Nature of the Service

Amherst County Released Inmates stores no official jail, court, release, or corrections records. It cannot confirm custody, release a person, or file a document. Its role is to point readers toward Amherst County, BRRJA, VADOC, court, and federal record resources.

Some pages also connect visitors with third-party research tools. Those services operate independently and have their own terms.

Acceptable Use Rules

You agree to use the site lawfully and without harming another person, the service, or its systems.

• Do not violate any law through the site.
• Do not stalk, threaten, or harass anyone with information found here.
• Do not use content for hiring, housing, lending, insurance, or another prohibited decision.
• Do not attempt unauthorized system access.
• Do not use bots, scrapers, or automated extraction tools.
• Do not interfere with access for other visitors.

FCRA Use Is Prohibited

Amherst County Released Inmates is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. It supplies no background check, credit report, consumer report, or screening service. Its advertising partners do not provide such services through this site. You agree not to use any site or linked-tool information for:

• Hiring, firing, or another employment decision
• Housing or tenant screening
• Creditworthiness or insurance pricing
• Licensing, permit, or government-benefit eligibility
• Any other decision regulated by the FCRA

Links and Outside Services

Links may lead to release records, sheriff and corrections pages, government portals, legal resources, or outside search services. A link is not an endorsement. We do not control the destination’s content, privacy practices, accuracy, availability, or prices. Review that service’s own terms before using it.

Service Provided As Is

The site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent allowed by law, no warranty is made concerning:

• Accuracy, completeness, or currentness
• Continuous or uninterrupted access
• Freedom from errors, defects, or security flaws
• The breadth or quality of a partner’s results

Custody status, release data, office contacts, and public records can change quickly. Nothing on the site is an official statement from a sheriff, BRRJA, VADOC, a court, or another agency.

Limits on Liability

To the fullest extent Virginia law permits, the site, its owners, and contributors are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from access, inability to access, reliance on content, or use of an outside service.

Your Duty to Indemnify

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold the site and its operators harmless from claims, losses, liabilities, expenses, and reasonable legal fees caused by your use of the service or violation of these terms.

Ownership of Site Materials

Unless a source is identified otherwise, site text, graphics, logos, layout, and code belong to Amherst County Released Inmates or its content partners. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or republish protected material without written permission.

Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised at any time. A new version becomes effective when posted. Continued use after posting means you accept the revised terms.

Access May Be Revoked

Access may be limited, suspended, or ended at any time, for any lawful reason, and without advance notice.

Virginia Law Applies

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute must be brought in a court with proper jurisdiction in Virginia.

Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. The affected provision will be limited or adjusted only as much as needed to make it enforceable.
